Frontier Accelerate Is Live. Check Your Renewal Date First.

Microsoft opened Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace on Sept 28, 2026. Current members move over at renewal, and from early 2027 benefits and designation renewals lose their 30-day grace period.

Before your anniversary

Microsoft announced Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace as "now available" in Partner Center on Sept 28, 2026, the same day its program page was relaunched with an "Enroll now" button. The old ISV Success and Marketplace Rewards URLs now redirect to it. For a partner that sells software through Microsoft, the program is open.

For a partner already in ISV Success or Marketplace Rewards, a different date matters more, and it is already sitting in Partner Center. Microsoft says existing partners "transition automatically at renewal," and from early 2027 benefits package and Solutions Partner designation renewals must be finished by the anniversary date, with no 30-day grace period. Find your anniversary date, read what Microsoft has published, and only then decide what to enroll in. The move in is automatic. Per Microsoft Learn, staying in takes one checkout on the first anniversary, even on the no-cost path.

What launched
Four programs now sit behind one front door

Microsoft's July 29, 2026 Partner Center announcement, "Important updates to partner benefits," described the program in one line: it "combines ISV Success, Marketplace Rewards, Azure IP co-sell, and certified software designations into one experience." On Sept 28, Microsoft posted "Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace now available" to the Partner Center announcements page, and the program page now opens with "Build, grow, and differentiate with Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace." ChannelLife reported it the same day.

Current members move over at renewal without applying. New entrants need Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program membership and completed verification, then pass an eligibility form. Microsoft's own pages disagree on Marketplace enrollment: the program page lists it as step 2, while the Microsoft Learn eligibility page calls it recommended but "not required to enroll." The solution must be B2B-focused, designed for repeatable sales, intended to be published on Marketplace, and built on Microsoft Cloud. The criteria ask for a solution intended for publication, so an unpublished one isn't ruled out. Rejected forms can be resubmitted.

The old microsoft.com/isv/offer-benefits and microsoft.com/isv/marketplace-rewards links now land on the Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace page. Bookmarks and internal wikis that point to them are out of date.

2
The date that matters
Two renewal clocks, and one of them costs $0

The July 29 announcement says existing partners "transition automatically at renewal; details specific to your circumstances are forthcoming." So the new program reaches an ISV Success or Marketplace Rewards member on that member's own renewal date. Sept 28 is when Microsoft opened the doors. The anniversary date is when the change lands on a given partner's desk.

Clock one: the program's own term. Microsoft Learn's enrollment page (Sept 16, 2026) sets a 12-month benefit period that starts on the enrollment date, on either path. Upgrading or downgrading doesn't move the anniversary date. Every partner on the no-cost path, including partners "migrated from a previous offering," must complete one $0 renewal through Partner Center checkout on the first anniversary. That checkout turns on auto-renewal and needs a billing profile with a payment method on file, though nothing is charged. Miss it, and the partner drops out of the offering and has to re-enroll, which resets the anniversary date. Premium renews each year in a window that opens 30 days before the anniversary; a Premium partner that doesn't renew drops to the no-cost path, and on the first anniversary that still means the $0 checkout. Learn also states that a mid-term upgrade to Premium is charged at the full annual price, not prorated.

Clock two: benefits packages and designations. A separate change, posted on the announcements page on July 14, removes the slack around those anniversary dates. Starting early 2027, the renewal window opens 30 days before the anniversary date (Microsoft calls it AD-30), renewal must be completed by the anniversary date, and the old 30-day grace period afterward no longer applies. Benefits that aren't renewed expire the day after. The change covers benefits packages and Solutions Partner designations. ISV Success already ran on AD-30, and the notice doesn't mention Marketplace Rewards. For most software partners, the new exposure is the benefits package or designation they hold alongside ISV Success.

AD-30
From early 2027, the renewal window for benefits packages and Solutions Partner designations opens 30 days before the anniversary date and closes on it. Unrenewed benefits expire the day after. ISV Success already works this way. Source: Microsoft Partner Center announcements, July 14, 2026 entry.

The two clocks can land on different dates, and both punish a partner that reads "automatically" and stops watching the calendar. On the program side, a missed $0 checkout means re-enrolling and a new anniversary date. On the benefits side, from early 2027, unrenewed benefits expire the next day, with repurchase the only way back. Track both dates now.

Stages and paths
Three stages, two paths, and a Premium price of $1,549.80

The program page groups benefits into three stages. Most of the contents will look familiar to anyone who used the old programs.

Build and Publish
Technical and presales deployment consultations, AI commercialization skilling, a development sandbox and credits (including Microsoft Foundry and GitHub Copilot), App Advisor, and the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program Concierge.
Grow
Personalized listing optimization, go-to-market resources, Azure sponsorship for no-cost customer trials, and engagement manager guidance on co-sell requirements and readiness.
Differentiate
Solutions Partner with certified software designations, enterprise propensity scoring, and accrued go-to-market benefits.

Two paths run across those stages. The no-cost path offers "to-partner incentives," "go-to-market resources," and "eligibility to participate in co-sell and attain a Solutions Partner with certified software designation." It is milestone-based and moves "at your own pace." The public page doesn't define the milestones.

Premium is the paid path, "for partners seeking additional technical guidance, Azure sponsorship, go-to-market benefits, and co-sell readiness guidance." It adds "$30,000 of Azure sponsorships to build and test solutions" (the Sept 28 announcement says "up to 30,000 USD"), technical presales and deployment consultations, enhanced go-to-market engagement, and co-sell readiness guidance. The announcement adds Partner Marketing Center Pro and a named engagement manager. Microsoft Learn lists the price as "$1,549.80 USD/year plus applicable taxes," for a 12-month term. That is within 20 cents of the $1,550 ISV Success renewal fee still listed on Microsoft Learn.

A decision rule for the fee. Premium is worth evaluating when the gap is the technical build or a listing that isn't ready to transact, and when the team would actually spend $30,000 of Azure sponsorship inside the term. Consultations and a named engagement manager do the most at that stage. Premium is much harder to justify when the product is live, the offer transacts, and the problem is that Microsoft sellers don't bring the partner into deals. Nothing on the program page says Premium changes how sellers are paid or whom they call.

$30,000
Azure sponsorship in the Premium path, to build and test solutions
Premium: $1,549.80 a year plus tax, 12-month term, per Microsoft Learn (Sept 16, 2026). The Sept 28 announcement says "up to" $30,000.

Sponsorship that expires unspent is worth nothing. Size the build plan before the purchase decision, and read the Benefits Guide first.

What stays the same
The co-sell bar hasn't moved, and neither has the field

The co-sell bar is still USD 100,000. Microsoft's co-sell requirements page sets Azure IP co-sell eligibility at USD 100,000 of Azure Consumed Revenue (ACR) or Marketplace Billed Sales (MBS) over the trailing 12 months, plus technical validation and a transactable offer. The page doesn't mention Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace at all.

The July 10, 2026 co-sell announcement still governs how Marketplace deals count. PRACR "no longer operates as a broad co-sell mechanism," and co-sell credit for Marketplace transactions "continues to be recognized through Marketplace Billed Sales (MBS)." The new program gives a partner engagement manager guidance on co-sell readiness and a route to a certified software designation. It doesn't lower the USD 100,000 threshold. And a deal still starts with a Microsoft seller deciding the partner helps close something on that seller's number, usually Azure consumption or a Marketplace purchase that draws down the customer's Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC). Program enrollment doesn't show up on that number.

USD 100K
Trailing-12-month ACR or MBS required for Azure IP co-sell eligibility, alongside technical validation and a transactable offer. Unchanged on Microsoft's co-sell requirements page as of Sept 28, 2026. The page makes no reference to the new program.

In the terms of the IMS Co-Sell Readiness Index, the program's benefits and credits land in one of six dimensions: Program & Incentive Capture. If a partner's binding constraint sits in Microsoft Field Traction or Marketplace Transactability, enrolling improves a dimension that wasn't the one holding growth back.

The two early results Microsoft cited at launch point the same way. Level Access reported USD 1.75 million in marketplace contract value after becoming transactable in less than a month. Centric reported USD 584,000 in marketplace-billed sales and improved co-sell readiness. These are two partners Microsoft chose to feature, and two examples say little about a typical result. What both have in common is an offer that transacts on Marketplace.

What we don't know yet
What happens to your package sits behind a sign-in

Microsoft Learn now documents eligibility, enrollment, the term, renewal, and the Premium price. What it doesn't cover is what happens to a specific ISV Success package or to Marketplace Rewards benefits already earned. That detail sits in the FAQ and Benefits Guide in Partner Marketing Center, behind Partner Center sign-in, so this brief doesn't describe their contents. The Learn pages for ISV Success and Marketplace Rewards still describe the old programs. Download the FAQ and Benefits Guide before the renewal window opens.

Settle one more thing early: the name is doing more than one job. "Frontier Accelerate" on its own is also Microsoft's broader customer investment program. And Noteworthy Support, a third-party firm, wrote on Sept 8, 2026 about "Frontier Accelerate for Marketplace" funded engagements under Microsoft Commerce Incentives for FY27; Microsoft's partner asset collection includes proof-of-execution templates titled "Frontier Accelerate for MP." Microsoft hasn't published how those funded engagements relate to enrollment. IMS treats them as separate until the Benefits Guide says otherwise. When a Microsoft contact says "Frontier Accelerate," ask which one they mean.

Not public yet
Open questions as of Sept 28, 2026, from Microsoft's public sources
  • What happens to each ISV Success package, and to accrued Marketplace Rewards benefits, at renewal

6
Before your anniversary
Eight checks, and the first three belong on this week's list
Find the date
Look up the anniversary date for each offering you hold in Partner Center (ISV Success, any benefits package, each Solutions Partner designation) and put the 30-day window before each one on the calendar. From early 2027 there's no grace period after it.
Set up checkout
Make sure a billing profile and payment method are on file in Partner Center, and calendar the one-time $0 renewal on your first Frontier Accelerate anniversary. Per Microsoft Learn, missing it drops you out, and re-enrolling resets your anniversary date.
Get the guide
Download the FAQ and Benefits Guide from Partner Marketing Center. Read them for what happens to your current package.
Confirm transactable
Confirm you have a transactable Marketplace offer, or set the date you'll publish one. Azure IP co-sell eligibility requires it.
Check your number
Make sure MBS is tracking, then check where trailing-12-month ACR and MBS sit against the USD 100,000 bar.
Check the designation
Check whether you hold a Solutions Partner with certified software designation. If not, find which requirement you're missing; the program page puts it in the Differentiate stage.
Ask which one
Ask your Microsoft contact which "Frontier Accelerate" they mean, and get the answer in writing if money is attached.
Premium last
Decide on Premium only after reading the Benefits Guide and naming the one dimension that is actually capping growth. An upgrade later in the term costs the full annual price.
Is Program & Incentive Capture your constraint, or is it something else?
The free IMS Co-Sell Readiness Index scores six dimensions, Program & Incentive Capture among them, in about ten minutes with no email required. Run it before your renewal window opens to see whether the new benefits reach the dimension that is holding you back.
Measure your readiness

Microsoft picked the launch date. Each member's anniversary date was set long before it, and from early 2027 that date arrives with no grace period.
